In this particular application, Graphite-Metal Alloy Bushings are used in a screw compressor in hydrogen gas service. It is a high speed, low load application for the bushings. They had originally tried aluminum bushings, which failed, then plain bronze bushings, which also failed. They then tried Graphite-Metal Alloy Bushings, which have been successful in this application. Read more here

Graphite-Metal Alloy Miniature Bushings for Semiconductor Wafer Manufacturing
These miniature bushings allow for linear movement in a slide carriage in the production of semiconductor wafers.
These tiny bushings highlight the ability of the graphite-metal alloy material to meet extreme design requirements (this bushing’s outer diameter being not much wider than the year on a penny).

Carbon Capture (and where Graphite-Metal Alloys come in)
Carbon capture is in the news recently (read more here) and this involves the pumping of CO2. Similar to light hydrocarbons, CO2 is low lubricity and therefore creates problems for metallic wear parts that depend on the lubricity of what is being pumped. Graphite-metal alloy bushings are non-galling and self-lubricating, thereby allowing these pumps to survive contact between the stationary and rotating parts and even flashing and

Pizza Magazine Highlights Graphite-Metal Alloy Bearing Solution
An old oven was at the heart of popular Lino's Pizza & Italian Restaurant in Rockford, Illinois, but constantly maintaining and replacing the bearings was causing tough work and costly downtime. They found self-lubricating, maintenance-free graphite-alloy bearings eliminated the maintenance and the downtime, and could handle the oven's high temperatures. Graphite-metal Alloy Bearings Excel in Potato Chip Fryer
The maintenance manager at a potato chip maker went to check on the bearings in the fryer paddle wheels and realized that the graphite-metal alloy bushings, in stainless steel pillow block housings, had been running strong for 6 years! This is a notoriously tough application with close proximity to food and high temperatures, where grease is not a good option. So instead of using rolling element bearings, they installed these graphite-metal alloy bearings back in 2014. The application is running non-stop, so these maintenance-free bearings really made the grade and begged the question- where else could these be used? Read more here.

Graphite-Metal Alloy Bearings as an Alternative to Plain Carbon Bearings
Graphite-metal alloy bearings and bushings often replace plain carbon bearings and bushings. The graphite-metal alloy material combines the self-lubricating abilities of graphite and the strength and wear resistance of the metal. This means more success than plain carbon, plastics, metals, and traditionally lubricated bearings in various scenarios.
