Graphite-Metal Alloy Bushings for CO2 Pumps

Countries such as Brazil are increasingly reinjecting CO2 to meet carbon reduction goals, as can be read about in this Reuters Article. But pumping CO2 is no easy task. It is a low lubricity service, with a high possibility of flashing. Using a wear part material that is self-lubricating and non-galling to allow for low lubricity and flashing is essential. Graphite-metal alloy wear parts are proven in these applications- read more.

Improving Pump Efficiency with Graphite-Metal Alloy Wear Parts

Many metal and plastic wear parts require wide running clearances due to the possibility that touching might cause melting, galling, and even seizure. Graphite-metal alloy bushings and case rings allow tighter running clearances- this material is dimensionally stable, non-galling, and self-lubricating. These tighter running clearances translates into greater efficiency for the pump, leading to greater energy and expenditure savings. Learn more about how Graphite-metal alloy bearings can improve efficiency, including a case history.

Graphite-Metal Alloy Bushings Solve Dry Running Issue with Raffinate Pumps

Raffinate is a gasoline additive to help meet scricter emissions standards. A pump company with a raffinate pump experienced a bushing failure- their PEEK bushing came apart and coated the shaft. They theorized that the failure was due to flashing/dry running. They found a solution that could handle a flashing/ dry running raffinate application- graphite-metal alloy bushings. Read more here.

Graphite-Metal Alloy Bushings Successful in Screw Compressor

In this particular application, Graphite-Metal Alloy Bushings are used in a screw compressor in hydrogen gas service.  It is a high speed, low load application for the bushings.  They had originally tried aluminum bushings, which failed, then plain bronze bushings, which also failed.  They then tried Graphite-Metal Alloy Bushings, which have been successful in this application.  Read more here

Graphite-Metal Alloy Miniature Bushings for Semiconductor Wafer Manufacturing

These miniature bushings allow for linear movement in a slide carriage in the production of semiconductor wafers.

These tiny bushings highlight the ability of the graphite-metal alloy material to meet extreme design requirements (this bushing’s outer diameter being not much wider than the year on a penny).
