Harsh Environments in Wastewater Treatment Systems

Wastewater treatment systems place extreme demands on mechanical components. Bearings must withstand moisture, corrosive chemicals, and dry starts while continuing to operate reliably with minimal maintenance.

Graphalloy bearings and bushings are designed specifically for these harsh environments. With solid graphite lubrication built into the material, Graphalloy eliminates the need for oils or greases and provides long service life in pumps, mixers, valves, and other critical wastewater equipment.

Discover how Graphalloy solutions help facilities reduce downtime and improve reliability in wastewater applications.

High-Temperature Pillow Blocks Provide Over 26 Years of Reliable Service

A recent paper mill application reminded us why bearing history matters.

High-temperature pillow blocks operating at 350°F and 30 RPM were found to have been in service since 1999. After reviewing the installation, Graphalloy engineers specified direct replacement assemblies that fit the existing pedestals, allowing eight new units to be installed without modifying surrounding equipment.

GRAPHALLOY® Upgrade Tames Problem Pentane Pumps

This case highlights how upgrading line shaft bushings and wear rings to GRAPHALLOY Nickel-grade materials helped a refinery overcome composite bushing failures caused by high-temperature, low-lubricity pentane service and solvent exposure. The result was a straightforward materials change that delivered years of reliable operation without altering pump geometry.
